We are pleased to announce that Edward Niño Hernández is officially the world's shortest male living (mobile) at a height of 72.1 cm (2 ft 4.38 in) tall! ⁣ ⁣ After turning 34 on 10 May, Edward can now begin his new year of age with a fantastic new record title; one that rarely gets broken. ⁣ ⁣ Natalia Ramírez, Guinness World Records Latin America adjudicator, presented Edward with an official certificate at a medical clinic in his native city of Bogotá, Colombia to honor this achievement (which was months prior to the quarantine and social distancing period). ⁣ ⁣ Edward has had quite the interesting life and has an array of activities he loves to do. WHO calls for clinical trial of Madagascar's virus cure

UN health agency says it is ready to collaborate with Madagascar. The World Health Organization (WHO) on Thursday called for clinical trials of Madagascar's Covid Organics, a herbal drink that is said to prevent and cure patients suffering from the novel coronavirus or COVID-19. "We are advising the government of Madagascar to take this product through a clinical trial and we are prepared to collaborate with them," Matshidiso Moeti, WHO's regional director for Africa, told a joint media briefing with the WHO and World Economic Forum. "We would caution and advise countries against adopting a product that has not been through clinical tests for safety and efficacy," Moeti said. "We are concerned about the impact that COVID-19 will have on the ability of African countries to progress towards Universal health coverage," she added. Justice Ejembi Eko In a unanimous judgment on Friday, a panel of seven Justices of Supreme Court set aside the judgment of the Federal High Court as a nullity. Justice Ejembi Eko who read the leading judgment held that Justice Mohammed Idris having been elevated to the bench of the Court of Appeal was no longer a Judge of the Federal High Court and therefore acted out of the jurisdiction. The apex court further held that section 396(7) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015 which allows the President of the Court of Appeal to issue a fiat to Justice Idris to adjudicate on the case is a nullity as it conflicts with the provisions of the 1999 constitution. A seven-man panel of the apex court also set aside the judgment which convicted Ude Udeogu, a former Director of Finance and Account at the Abia State Government House. The Supreme Court gave the judgement on Friday, more than one year after both men were convicted of corruption allegations levelled against them by the Federal Government. Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos had sentenced Senator Kalu to 12 years imprisonment in his judgement delivered on April 24, 2019. He had also sentenced Mr Udeogu to 10 years imprisonment on the same day. Displeased with the judgement of the Federal High Court, Kalu and Udeogu filed an appeal to challenge their sentencing at the Supreme Court. The apex court, in a unanimous verdict on the appeal delivered by Justice Ejembi Eko, declared that the conviction of the appellants was null and void. Abia Discharges One Coronavirus Patient By Wisdom Nwedene, Umuahia Abia State Government on Monday discharged one of the two confirmed patients of Coronavirus from the isolation centre after testing negative to the disease two consecutive times while the other is in a stable medical condition. In a statement made available to Igbere TV on Monday by the Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi, the State government noted that all the samples taken from contacts of the two index cases and sent to NCDC returned negative results According to report, "we are expecting results for 44 other samples sent for testing and will communicate the outcome once they return from NCDC." Ogun doctors declare three-day warning strike amid COVID-19

The Association of Resident Doctors at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, Ogun State, says its members will commence a three-day warning strike on Monday. The warning strike by the association, whose members manage the isolation centres for the state government, is coming amidst the ravaging coronavirus in the state and the country. The ARD OOUTH in a letter written to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, a copy which was obtained by  The PUNCH  on Sunday, explained that the warning strike became imperative following the alleged refusal of the government to yield to its agitations on the need to better its members’ welfare. Mother And Son Test Positive For COVID-19 In Osun

The wife and son of a patient who died of coronavirus in Osun state have tested positive. The two new cases bring the toll of infection in Osun to 36. The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Mr. Ismail Omipidan, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday. He noted the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, said the two new cases were confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC last night. His words: “Last night, we received results of 53 samples we sent to the NCDC accredited Testing Centre for evaluation, out of which 2 tested positive and 51 returned negative. “The two positive cases are wife and son of a previously confirmed case in Ife, who died last week. They are currently receiving treatment at our Isolation Centre,” he said.
